Dr. Moritz Grosse-Wentrup's primary research interest is developing new methods for non-invasive brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). BCIs are devices that allow subjects to communicate by intentionally modulating the electromagnetic field of the brain. For doing so, he heads the BCI group at the Max-Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems at Tuebingen. Moritz has done outstanding work that advances the current state-of-the-art in BCIs, and enables BCI-communication for subjects in late stages of in late stages of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) His research focuses on developing and applying methods for connectivity/causal inference in neuroimaging data, including approaches like Network information theory, Causal Bayesian networks, and Granger causality.

Professor Jan Peters baut seit dem 1. July 2011 am Fachbereich Informatik der TU Darmstadt das neue Fachgebiet Intelligente Autonome Systeme auf. Einer seiner wichtigsten Forschungsschwerpunkte ist die Entwicklung von neuen Methoden zum maschinellen Lernen in Autonomen Technischen Systemen und Robotern.
